MedCity is currently in the process of being accredited as a Good Work Standard Employer, and we'd like to see as many companies from our sector awarded this status as possible.

What is it?

The Good Work Standard is Mayor of London’s benchmark for best employment practice in fair pay and contracts, workplace well-being, diversity and recruitment, and skills and progression. Since launch in July, 49 employers have accredited to the Good Work Standard, with over 190,000 Londoners now working for an accredited employer.

Accredited employers cover organisations of all sizes and sectors, including research, social care, finance, local government, energy, design and manufacturing. They include ITV, The Francis Crick Institute, The National Gallery, Lloyds Bank, Comic Relief, and Toynbee Hall, joining the GLA Group, and 7 London boroughs. The free-to-access Mayor’s Good Work Standard website hosts resources for employers.

Why do it?

Employers play an important role in the lives of the people working for them. Not only can they ensure the health and safety of their workers and employees but also that they are fairly treated and rewarded. As a result, they can improve the performance and success of their organisation and realise numerous business benefits.

Successful organisations would be able to use their accreditation to demonstrate social value when competing for public sector procurement opportunities with the GLA Group.
