Welcome – Sarah Haywood, CEO, MedCity

November has been another busy month. Hot on the heels of our return from Japan, we hosted two delegations from the Japan Health Sciences Foundation and Japan Bioindustry Association and we have also been in Cologne (Köln) in Germany for BioEurope. Eliot has been busy presenting at conferences including the FT Global Pharma and Biotech Conference and Phil presented at Life Science Invest in St Petersburg. The Francis Crick Institute was officially opened on 9 November by Her Majesty The Queen, and DigitalHealth.London has also been in full force at the GIANT health event, where I spoke alongside Imperial’s Axel Heitmueller about accelerating innovation in the NHS.

I was also pleased to see that the Government has pledged £110m for new rail links between Cambridge and Oxford, which will help to cement science, tech and innovation across the golden triangle.

As we approach December, I am delighted to let you know that MedCity has appointed Neelam Patel as COO and she will officially take up the role at the end of this month. Finally, MedCity will soon be moving office to Cocoon Networks at 4 Christopher Street, London, EC2A 2BS. We will keep you all updated and look forward to hosting you there for meetings and events.
