Welcome

From Sarah Haywood, MedCity’s CEO

Happy new year from all at MedCity! We’re looking forward to a fantastic and busy 2016, with some major activities already well under way – including our event with the London Stock Exchange and BIA at Biotech Showcase, taking place as you read this, and our second Future of Healthcare Investor Forum at the end of January, again with the London Stock Exchange, who we are thrilled to be working so closely with. You can read more about both events below.

We’re also gearing up for the launch of DigitalHealth.London in February, which we believe will bring big benefits for patients, the NHS, and growing businesses in the region and beyond. We’ll be able to give full details shortly, but in the meantime please do keep in touch with this major new initiative through its Twitter feed.

Finally, huge congratulations to Sir Harpal Kumar, CEO of Cancer Research UK and a member of MedCity’s Advisory Board, who was knighted in the New Year Honours list. It’s a well-deserved honour and recognises both the pioneering work of CRUK and his exemplary leadership of it.

Look to London for life sciences listings – Biotech Showcase

The opportunities and benefits of listing in London and the strength of the UK’s private fundraising market are being highlighted at Biotech Showcase. MedCity and the London Stock Exchange are joined at the event in San Francisco by PureTech Health, a US company that floated in London in 2015, plus leading figures from the BioIndustry Assocation, Woodford Investment Management, and RBC Capital.
